Mixology: Pink Means Business

Four unorthodox yet unmistakable ways to punch up your work wardrobe this fall.

By Jared Flint

These days, most guys know that, yes, real men do wear pink. Knowing this is one thing, putting it into action—especially at work—is another. As always, we are here to help. Here are a few tips to get started.

  • Take a simple first step with, well, your feet. Socks equipped with a pop of pink provide a flourish you can flash at will.
  • If you’re wondering when a pink dress shirt is acceptable, the rule is simple: anytime a light blue one is.
  • Or, if you’re angling for a subtler approach, grab a shirt or accessory that sports pink as an accent color, as you’ll see in a few of the examples below.

Case in point: the way these pink-accented socks make these brown brogues shine.

A tried-and-true office look–navy tie, bold striped shirt–gets a serious punch-up with pink as a base color instead of white. The color adds a touch of texture without overwhelming the look as a whole.

Here’s another—even bolder—spin on pink as an accent color. The knit tie makes is a bit more European playboy than broker of European commodities.

More comfortable at the subtler end of the spectrum? Dress down a wool suit with a light pink pique polo.
