The Great Outdoors

We hit the wilds of Red Hook, Brooklyn to road test a few of the season's sportier looks.

By Jared Flint, Photos by Backyard Bill

As his nom de lens implies, photographer Backyard Bill has an eye for nature—wherever he finds it, from the backwaters of Coney Island to the woodsy Catskills. For our latest collaboration, we stuck a little closer to home: Red Hook, Brooklyn, the sleepy industrial neighborhood in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, which proved the perfect testing ground for spring's best performance gear, from weather-fighting parkas and down vests to crew-neck sweatshirts and slim-cut cargoes. Click through the slides and get ready to hit the streets—or, you know, actual backcountry trails—in style this season.
