Brands to Know Now: Feit

Thirteen up-and-coming labels that every style-conscious guy needs on his radar—and in his wardrobe—this fall. We talk to the principals about what they do, and how they do it.

The Brand

Designer: Tull Price

Founded: 2005

Based: New York City

Who wears it: Clients who want a relationship with their cobblers

You know it for: Boots and sneakers made to the standards of the best dress shoes

Brand backstory: It used to be that the most rigorous handcrafting in footwear—Goodyear welting, Horween leather, etc.—was reserved for leather-soled shoes. Feit has changed that. The Australian shoemaker has introduced an evolving series of limited-production shoes ranging from casual bluchers to sneakers, each made out of the best materials (down to the bamboo shanks, cork footbeds, Chromexcel leather uppers, and waxed-cotton laces) and a manufacturing process overseen by legendary Italian shoemaker Verdicchio Padrone. Price has pioneered a direct Internet ordering system through which samples are presented, reserved, and—once there’s enough interest—produced in limited numbers (usually topping out around fifty).
